Isaac Scott Nind (1797–1868) was an important person in early Australia. He was a doctor, an artist, and a pharmacist. He helped people with their health and also recorded what he saw around him.

Early Life and Training
Isaac Scott Nind was born in 1797. He studied medicine in London, England. In 1820, he became a Licentiate of the Apothecaries Company (LAC). This meant he was qualified to work as a pharmacist and a doctor.
Journey to Australia
In 1826, Isaac Nind sailed to New South Wales, Australia. Soon after arriving, he became an Assistant Colonial Surgeon. This meant he was a doctor working for the government in the colony.
He joined an important journey to King George Sound. This is on Australia's south-west coast. He sailed on a ship called the Amity with soldiers. Their mission was to set up a new military base there.
Exploring King George Sound
While at King George Sound, Isaac Nind did more than just his medical work. He was very interested in the local Aboriginal people. He spent time learning about their language. He even wrote down many words to create a Nyoongar vocabulary. This was a valuable record of the language.
Return to New South Wales
After some time, Isaac Nind faced health challenges. He decided to return to Sydney in 1829. Later, he travelled back to London.
In 1833, he returned to New South Wales again. He settled in a place called Paterson. There, he continued his work as a surgeon, helping the people in the area.
A Public Servant
Isaac Nind also took on a new role in 1837. He became a Commissioner of Crown Lands. This was a government job. His role was to manage and oversee land that belonged to the Crown (the government). This was an important job in the growing colony.
Family Life
Isaac Scott Nind married Maria Anne Johnston. They had five daughters together.
