Isabel Pardo de Vera Posada was born in 1975. She is a Spanish engineer. She made history as the first woman to lead Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF). This is Spain's state-owned railway company. She was president from 2018 to 2021. Later, she served as Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing from 2021 to 2023.

Early Life and Family
Isabel Pardo de Vera was born in Lugo, a city in Galicia, Spain. Her father, Gerardo Pardo de Vera, was a local leader. He was the first mayor of Becerreá chosen by the people. Her sister, Ana, became a journalist.
Education and Learning
Isabel Pardo de Vera studied engineering at the University of A Coruña. She finished her studies in 2001. She learned about roads, canals, and ports. Later, she continued her education. She earned a special business degree (MBA) in 2007. She also graduated from ESADE Business School in 2009.
Her Work and Career
Starting in Railways
Isabel Pardo de Vera began her career in 2007. She joined Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF). This company manages Spain's railway lines. She worked on important projects there. One big project was the high-speed rail line connecting Madrid and Galicia.
Leading Roles
In 2015, she took a break from ADIF. She worked for the local government in Province of Pontevedra. She helped manage transport and building projects. She returned to ADIF in 2016.
In June 2018, Isabel Pardo de Vera became the president of ADIF. She was the first woman to hold this top position. In July 2018, she took on an even bigger role. She was named Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing. This meant she helped manage all of Spain's roads, railways, and housing. She worked in the government led by Pedro Sánchez.
Leaving Her Role
Isabel Pardo de Vera resigned from her position on February 20, 2023. The president of Renfe, another railway company, also resigned. This happened after an issue with new trains. The government had ordered 31 trains for northern Spain. However, these trains were designed too wide for some tunnels. The error meant the trains would be delayed. They were expected in 2024 but would not be ready until at least 2026.
