Isog is an important archaeological site located in Peru. An archaeological site is a place where people lived or worked a long time ago, and where scientists called archaeologists find clues about their lives.
This ancient site is found in the Huánuco Region, specifically in the Huamalíes Province, within the Tantamayo District. It's a special place because it helps us learn about the past.
The Peruvian government officially recognized Isog as a National Cultural Heritage site. This happened on June 18, 2002, through a special document called Resolución Directoral No. 533/INC. This means it's a protected place that is very important to Peru's history and culture.
Where Isog is Located
Isog is nestled on the northern side of a mountain called Susupillo. This mountain is also home to another archaeological site, which is located just south of Isog. Being on a mountain slope means the site might have had a good view or been easy to defend a long time ago.
