Issei Takayanagi (髙柳 一誠, born September 14, 1986) is a Japanese former professional football player. He played as a midfielder. After retiring from playing, he became an assistant manager for Okinawa SV. This club plays in the JFL.
Issei Takayanagi's Football Journey
Issei Takayanagi began his football journey in the youth teams of Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He then joined their main professional team in 2004. He played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima for several years, until 2011. During his time there, he helped the team achieve some notable results. They were runners-up in the J.League Cup in 2010. They also reached the final of the Emperor's Cup in 2007.
After leaving Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Issei played for other Japanese clubs. In 2012, he joined Consadole Sapporo. From 2013 to 2014, he played for Vissel Kobe. He then moved to Roasso Kumamoto, where he played from 2014 to 2016. Later, he joined Renofa Yamaguchi FC for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Playing for Okinawa SV
In February 2019, Issei Takayanagi joined Okinawa SV. He continued to play for this club until he retired from professional football in 2022. After ending his playing career, he took on a new role. He became an assistant manager for Okinawa SV. This means he helps coach the team and supports the main manager.
International Experience
Issei Takayanagi also represented Japan at a younger age. He was part of the Japan national team that competed in the AFC U-19 Championship. In the 2004 tournament held in Malaysia, his team won a bronze medal. This showed his talent on the international stage even before his senior club career.
