The Reverend Alfred Itubwa Amram (born December 21, 1922 – died July 17, 1989) was an important person from the island nation of Nauru. He was both a respected pastor, which is a religious leader, and a significant political figure. He helped lead his country during its early years of independence.

A Leader for Nauru
Itubwa Amram played a key role in Nauru's history. He was part of the very first parliament of the Republic of Nauru. This was a big moment for the country.
Serving His Country
Amram was elected to parliament in early 1968. This happened just before Nauru became an independent nation. He represented the Aiwo Constituency, which is an area in Nauru.
From 1968 to January 1971, he served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Nauru. The Speaker is like the chairperson of the parliament. They make sure meetings run smoothly and everyone follows the rules. After four years, he lost his seat to Kinza Clodumar in the next election.
Guiding His Community
Besides his political work, Itubwa Amram was also a dedicated religious leader. He was the first Nauruan-born person to become an ordained minister. This means he was officially recognized to lead religious services. Before him, all ministers in Nauru came from other countries.
Amram received his training in Australia. Later, he became the head of the Nauruan Protestant Church. He helped guide many people in their faith.
