History of Iuka
Iuka was first settled in 1877. It got its name from the Battle of Iuka, a famous battle that happened in Iuka, Mississippi. For a while, Iuka was even the main town, or county seat, for Pratt County. This means it was where the county government was located.
The first post office in Iuka opened its doors in December 1877. This helped people send and receive mail, connecting the town to the rest of the country.
