Ivan L. Moody (born Ivan Lewis Greening on January 7, 1980) is an American singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer for the popular heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch. Before joining Five Finger Death Punch, he was also a singer for other bands like Motograter and Ghost Machine. During his time with Motograter, he was known by the nickname "Ghost."

Early Life and Music
Ivan Moody was born in Denver, Colorado. As he grew up, he lived in several smaller cities nearby. He also spent some summers with his grandmother in Wisconsin.
Moody shared that his grandmother encouraged him to join a choir when he was about seven years old. He was in the choir for a few years. Music has always been very important to him. He started singing in bands when he was 16 years old.
Music Career
In 2001, Moody moved to Los Angeles. He started using the last name Moody, which was the surname of his stepfather, Billy Moody, who was like a father to him. In Los Angeles, he joined his first band called Toiz in 2002. They played some shows and made a demo.
The next year, Moody joined the band Motograter. They released their first album in May 2003. Motograter became quite popular, playing at big music festivals like Ozzfest 2003. They also toured with famous bands such as Korn and Slipknot. Motograter took a break in 2005.
In 2005, Moody joined the heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch. Around the same time, his other project, Ghost Machine, released its first album. Ghost Machine released a second album, Hypersensitive, in November 2006.
Five Finger Death Punch's Success
Five Finger Death Punch quickly became very successful. Their first album, The Way of the Fist (2007), sold over 600,000 copies in the United States. It also had three songs that made it into the top 10 charts. Their second album, War Is the Answer (2009), sold more than 44,000 copies in its first week. This album had five top 10 songs and sold over 700,000 copies.
Their third album, American Capitalist, was even more successful. It reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 90,000 copies in its first week. This was the band's third album to be certified Gold by the RIAA. In July 2013, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 was released, selling over 210,000 copies. A few months later, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 came out and reached number 2 on the Billboard 200. It featured the popular song "Battle Born".
Five Finger Death Punch has played at many big tours and music festivals. These include the Jägermeister Stage at Mayhem Festival in 2008, and the main stage at Mayhem Festival in 2010 and 2013. They also performed at Download Festival in 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2015. The band also played at the Monster Stage at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio, several times.
In June 2017, Ivan Moody took a break from touring with Five Finger Death Punch. He returned to touring with the band by December 2019.
Other Projects
In 2009, Moody acted in the horror film Bled, where he played a character named Incubus. He also appeared in the short horror musical film The Devil's Carnival in April 2012. In 2021, he was in the film The Retaliators.
Personal Life
Ivan Moody has two daughters. He also owns a business called Moody's Medicinals.
Awards and Recognition
Motograter was named the best band of 2003 by Hit Parader magazine. Five Finger Death Punch has also won several awards. They received The Best New Band award at the 2009 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. They also won the Most Promising Artist award from FMQB's 2009 year-end Metal poll.
The band was nominated for the Best International Newcomer award at the 2009 Kerrang! Awards. They won the Best Breakthrough Band award at the 2010 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. In 2014, their song "Lift Me Up" won Best Song at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
