Early Life and Career
Ivari Padar was born in Navi, a place in Estonia. He started his career in local government. From 1993 to 1994, he was the Deputy Mayor of Võru. He also worked with farmers. From 1994 to 1995, he was the Executive Chairman of the Võru Farmers Union.
Working in Government
Padar then moved to national government roles. He was an Assistant to the Chancellor at the Finance Ministry from 1995 to 1997. Later, he became the Minister of Agriculture. He held this position from 1999 to 2002.
Roles in Parliament
Ivari Padar has been a member of the Estonian Parliament, called the Riigikogu, several times. He was a member of the X, XI, XIII, and XIV Riigikogu. In April 2007, he became the Minister of Finance. He served in this role until May 2009. He also led the Social Democratic Party from 2003 to 2009.
