Ivo de Vesci was an important noble in England during the 1000s. His name is sometimes spelled Vescy, and his first name might also be Yves. King William II of England gave him land and control over the area of Alnwick in Northumberland. He also received land in Malton, Yorkshire. It's not fully known if he was the son or a relative of Robert de Veci, who was part of the Norman conquest of England. Robert de Veci was given many large areas of land in other parts of England.
Ivo's Family and New Lands
Ivo de Vesci married a woman named Alda Tyson. Alda was the daughter of William Tyson, who used to be the lord of Alnwick.
Ivo and Alda had one known child:
- Beatrix de Vesci, who passed away around 1130. She married Eustace Fitz John, an important official who was the Constable of Chestershire and Knaresborough. Because Beatrix married Eustace, Ivo de Vesci gained control over even more land, including the areas of Malton and Alnwick.
