Iwona Buczkowska (born in 1953) is an architect and urban planner from Poland. She later became a French citizen. She is known for designing buildings and city areas. One of her famous designs is the Cité Les Longs Sillons, where she also lives and works.

About Iwona Buczkowska

Iwona Buczkowska studied architecture in two different countries. First, she went to a technical university in Gdańsk, Poland. Then, she studied at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, France. She earned her architecture degree in 1974.

She gets ideas from many places. She was inspired by the thoughts of another French architect, Jean Renaudie. She also looked at how towns were planned a long time ago. This includes the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Baroque period.

Iwona Buczkowska believes that cities should not separate different parts of life. For example, she doesn't like it when homes, shops, and offices are all in different areas. She thinks that buildings should be flexible inside. This means they should have a "free plan" design. This makes it easier for people to move around and use the space in different ways. She also uses wood as a main material in her buildings. This was a new idea when she started.
