Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Izza Kizza (born Terry Davis in 1981) is an American hip hop artist and MC. He is known for his fun and varied style of music.

About Izza Kizza

Izza Kizza, whose real name is Terry Davis, was born in 1981. He grew up in Valdosta, Georgia. From a young age, Terry loved music. When he was just twelve years old, he started performing in a singing group. This group included his older brother and two of his godbrothers.

Starting His Music Journey

As Terry got older, he was inspired by popular music groups like Kris Kross. He decided to start his own career as an MC, which is another name for a rapper. He chose the stage name Izza Kizza. He quickly became very popular in his local area.

His talent caught the attention of a music production team called Soul Diggaz. They invited him to move to New Jersey to help him grow his music career. In New Jersey, Izza Kizza worked with famous hip-hop artists. One of his collaborations was with Missy Elliott on a song called "Walk The Dawg." This song used a sample from "The Clapping Song" by Shirley Ellis.

Working with Timbaland

Izza Kizza eventually signed with Timbaland's record label, Mosley Music/Interscope Records. Timbaland is a very well-known music producer. Izza Kizza later left Timbaland's label. This was because Timbaland was very busy with his own album, Shock Value II. Izza Kizza decided he didn't want to wait for Timbaland to finish his other projects. Even though they no longer worked together, they remained good friends.

Izza Kizza's Music

Izza Kizza has released several mixtapes, which are collections of songs. His first mixtape was called "Kizzaland" and came out in 2008. It was mixed by Nick Catchdubs and was available for free online. This mixtape featured music produced by Timbaland, Soul Diggaz, and Koolade.

Songs in Games and TV

One of the songs from "Kizzaland," called "Red Wine," was featured on a music CD from Paste Magazine in June 2008. His song "Millionaire" was included in the soundtrack for the popular video game Madden NFL 09. Another one of his songs, "They're Everywhere," was part of the soundtrack for the NBA 2K10 video game.

"They're Everywhere" also appeared on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance. It was used in a hip-hop dance routine during the show's fifth season. The routine was performed by dancers Kayla Radomski and Jason Glover and was choreographed by Shane Sparks.
