J2O facts for kids
J2O is a popular still (meaning it's not fizzy!) fruit juice drink. It's made by a company called Britvic and is sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland. J2O first came out in 1998. The name J2O is a clever play on words, like a pun, using the chemical formula for water, H2O. This name was chosen because the drink is made from fruit juices. The first J2O flavours were Orange & Passion fruit, Apple & Mango, and Apple & Melon. Since then, many more exciting flavours have been added!

The Story of J2O
In 2001, J2O became very popular. Because of this, its packaging was updated, and a new flavour, Orange & Cranberry, was introduced. By 2002, J2O was a big hit in places like bars and restaurants. For the first time, it became available for people to buy and take home. You could find four-bottle packs in supermarkets and shops.
The packaging was changed again in 2005. That year, the Apple & Raspberry flavour was also launched.
Fun Campaigns and New Flavours
On August 2, 2006, Britvic announced a special campaign. This campaign was timed with the live tour of the TV show Little Britain. The campaign was called "J2O is in for a laugh." It allowed people to enter a competition. They could win one of 96 special VIP (Very Important Person) tickets to see the Little Britain show.
By August 15, 2007, J2O started to be sold in bars, clubs, and restaurants in the Chicago area of the United States. It was brought there by a company called Exotic Beverage Co.
In 2009, J2O added two new flavours: Grape & Kiwi and Winter Berries. These were first released for a limited time. But they became so popular that they were added to the regular range of flavours. In 2010, J2O bottles got a new look. They also launched the J2O White Blend range. This range included two flavours, one with white grape and one with red grape. They were less sweet than other J2O drinks. They were designed to go well with food, much like white and red wine. The two most popular flavours, Orange & Passion Fruit and Apple & Mango, also became available in plastic bottles.
In 2011, a special limited edition J2O flavour called "Glitter Berry" came out. Then in 2012, two more limited edition flavours, Papaya Punch and Diamond Berry, were released. In 2013, a special Pear Gold version was launched for the summer. In 2020, J2O won a top award called the Lausanne Index Prize - Supreme Award.
J2O's TV Advert
In November 2014, J2O launched a TV advert called "Junior's crew 2 Old Irish beats." This advert featured a modern dance group from London called Junior's Crew. They were shown break-dancing to live Irish folk music played by a band called The Other Brothers. The TV advert was filmed in Stoke Newington Town Hall. It was first shown during The X-Factor on ITV1 in November 2014.
