Smart Control Rooms
The station has three main buildings for managing everything. One of these is the control room. It's designed with the best international standards. This means experts can watch and control the entire farm from here.
Inside the Turbines
Did you know there are electric lifts inside the tall turbine towers? These lifts help workers go up for regular check-ups and maintenance. The giant blades of the turbines can spin quite fast, up to 16 rotations per minute! The wind in this area is also very strong, blowing between 12 and 33 meters per second.
Producing Lots of Power
The Jabal Al-Zait plant is very efficient. It produces a lot of electricity. In fact, it reaches 52% of its total possible power output. This is a really good number for a wind farm.
Protecting Birds
One of the most unique things about this farm is its bird protection system. It uses radar to watch for migrating birds. When a large group of birds, sometimes up to 300,000, flies by, the turbines stop spinning. This keeps the birds safe from hitting the blades. Once the birds have passed, the turbines start up again.
