The Jabirr Jabirr people traditionally lived on a large area of land. This land was about 800 square miles (2,100 km2) (around 2,072 square kilometers) on the western side of the Dampier Peninsula. Their territory stretched along the coast from Sandy Point near Beagle Bay down to Cape Bertholet.

Their land also reached about 30 miles (48 kilometers) inland. The Jabirr Jabirr shared borders with several other Aboriginal groups. To their north were the Nyulnyul, and to their east were the Warrwa people. The Nimanburu lived to their southeast, and the Ngombal people were to their south.

By the 1950s, only a few members of the Jabirr Jabirr people were still known to be alive. By the 1970s, it was noted that their community had become very small. Efforts continue to learn about and preserve the history and culture of the Jabirr Jabirr people.
