Early Life and Education
Jack Ford grew up in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, raised by a single parent. He went to Point Pleasant Beach High School. After high school, he attended Yale University, where he also played football.
Becoming a Lawyer
Ford later earned a law degree from Fordham University School of Law. He then worked for three years as a prosecutor in New Jersey. A prosecutor is a lawyer who works for the government to bring legal cases against people accused of crimes. After that, he started his own private law practice. He also taught law as a professor at Fordham Law School.
Television Career Highlights
Jack Ford began his television career in 1984. He was hired by WCBS-TV to be their legal commentator. This meant he would explain legal issues on the news.
Joining Court TV and NBC News
In 1991, he joined the Courtroom Television Network when it first started. He moved to NBC News in 1994, becoming their main legal correspondent. From May 1995, he co-hosted the morning show Weekend Today. He worked with different co-anchors, including Giselle Fernandez, Ann Curry, Jodi Applegate, and Soledad O'Brien, until July 1999.
Moving to ABC News and Other Shows
In September 1999, Ford joined ABC News. He became a correspondent for popular shows like 20/20 and Good Morning America. On December 31, 1999, he was in Times Square for ABC 2000 Today. This was ABC's huge 23-hour worldwide broadcast covering the start of the Millennium. He even helped count down to the year 2000 with Dick Clark.
From 2002 to 2003, Ford was the moderator for ESPN's The Sports Reporters. He also co-hosted a talk show called Living It Up! With Ali & Jack, which started in September 2003. The show, co-hosted with actress Alexandra "Ali" Wentworth, ran for about seven months.
Later Career and Teaching
In June 2004, Jack Ford returned to Court TV (which is now called truTV). In 2006, he began co-hosting a daily afternoon show called Banfield & Ford: Courtside with Ashleigh Banfield. Since 2009, he has worked as a legal analyst for CBS News. This means he explains legal news and events for CBS.
Jack Ford has also shared his knowledge by teaching. Since 2007, he has been a Visiting Lecturer at Yale University. He teaches a class called "Trials of the Century." He also taught this course at New York University in 2019. Since 2018, he has been a college football analyst for ESPN, covering Ivy League football games.

Jack Ford is the author of a suspense novel titled "The Osiris Alliance," which was published in 2009. He has received several important awards for his work.
