Jack Morrison Gregory (born August 14, 1895, died August 7, 1973) was an amazing Australian cricketer. He played in 24 important international matches called Test matches between 1920 and 1928. He also played 129 first-class matches for New South Wales. Jack was famous for being a very fast bowler. He could also bat really well, even without gloves! He scored 1,146 runs and made two centuries.

Jack Gregory: A Cricket Star

Jack Gregory was known for his powerful right-arm fast bowling. He was a tough player who wasn't afraid to bowl quickly. He also batted left-handed and was a strong hitter. His best bowling performance in a Test match was taking 7 wickets for 69 runs. This happened against England in 1920-21.

Record-Breaking Batting

Jack Gregory was not just a great bowler; he was also a fantastic batter. In a Test match in Johannesburg in 1921, he scored a century (100 runs) in just 67 balls. This was the fastest century ever in Test cricket at that time! He did it in only 70 minutes. This record for the fastest century by time stood for many years.

Amazing Catches

Jack Gregory was also an excellent fielder. In the 1920–21 Ashes series, he took 15 catches. This is still a record for the most catches by a fielder in a single Test series. It shows how good he was at catching the ball.

Family and Career End

Jack Gregory came from a famous cricket family. His uncles, Dave and Ned Gregory, were also early Australian cricketers. Sadly, Jack's cricket career ended suddenly. He suffered a knee injury in a Test match in Brisbane in 1928. This injury meant he could no longer play.

Special Recognition

In 1922, Jack Gregory was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year. This is a very special award in cricket, given to the best players. It shows how important and talented he was in the world of cricket.
