Jack Grunsky (born July 1, 1945) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He is famous for making music for both kids and adults. Jack has been recording and performing for over 30 years. His music is loved by many people around the world.

Jack's Early Music Journey

Jack Grunsky was born in Austria. He moved to Canada when he was a baby. He started singing and performing in high school in Toronto. After school, he went back to Europe to begin his music career.

In 1966, he started a folk music group called Jack's Angels. They were quite popular for a short time. After the group broke up, Jack made three solo albums. One of these albums, called Toronto, was recorded in London.

Jack was also a guest on many radio and TV shows. He even had his own weekly radio show in Austria called Folk With Jack. In 1974, he moved back to Canada with his family. There, he released another album called The Patience Of A Sailor.

Making Music for Kids

In the early 1980s, Jack Grunsky became very interested in making music for children. Since then, he has become well known for his children's songs. He has released eleven albums just for kids!

His children's music has won many important awards. He has won two Juno Awards for Best Children's Recording. He also has several U.S. Parents' Choice Gold Awards. Many of his songs have been added to the American Library Association's "Notable Recording Lists".

Jack travels a lot to perform for families. He sings in theatres, at children's festivals, and at educational events. You might have even seen him on Treehouse TV, which made him popular in Canada and the United States. Jack has also performed a special show called Welcome to the Orchestra with many big Canadian orchestras. This show teaches young audiences about orchestral music.

Jack also helped produce Fred Penner's CD, Sing With Fred, in 2002. This album won Children's Album of the Year at the 2003 Juno Awards.

Recent Music and Family

In 2006, Jack Grunsky released his first NuJazz album, Coastlines. He released another jazz album, Room To Move, in 2008. He continues to make both jazz and children's music. His newest children's album, Hoppin' Socks, came out in 2011.

Jack's daughter, Cosima, is also a singer-songwriter. She often performs music with her father. She has released three of her own albums so far.
