- He played junior football for his school team.
- He also played for local clubs like the Greythorn Falcons and the Doncaster Cats.
- Later, he joined the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup, which is a league for young players.

Jack Silvagni's AFL Career Journey
Jack Silvagni was chosen by Carlton in the 2015 AFL draft. He was picked as the 53rd player overall. Carlton was able to draft him under the father–son rule, which allows clubs to get players whose fathers played for them.
Starting Out: Wearing the Famous Number
When Jack first joined Carlton in 2016, he wore the No. 2 jersey. After the 2016 season, a player named Andrew Walker retired. This meant Jack could switch to the No. 1 jersey. This number was very special because both his father, Stephen, and his grandfather, Sergio, had famously worn it for Carlton.
Rising Star Nomination and New Roles
In the 2017 AFL season, Jack was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in round 13. This happened after a great game against the Gold Coast Suns. He kicked two important goals in the last quarter, helping Carlton win by ten points.
During the 2018 AFL season, Jack spent more time playing in the midfield. This meant he was getting more handballs and making more tackles, rather than just kicking goals. Some people thought he wasn't playing as well as expected. However, many, including his coach, still believed in him.
Injuries and Versatility
For the 2019 AFL season, Jack moved back to playing as a forward, which was his original position. He was also used as a utility player. This means he could play in different parts of the field, not just as a target for goals. In 2019, Jack had his best year for getting the ball, averaging 13.8 disposals per game.
The 2020 AFL season was tough for Jack because of injuries.
- He got a bruised lung and a broken rib during a game against Essendon Football Club.
- An Essendon player, Zach Merrett, was banned for one match because of the incident.
- Jack also had surgery on his leg in August.
Because of these injuries, Jack only played in three games during the 2020 season.
Back on the Field and New Challenges
Jack returned to playing regularly in Carlton's 2021 season. He continued to play as a forward. He also sometimes helped out as a backup ruckman in the midfield. Even though he was often smaller than the opposing ruckmen, he was good at stopping them from tapping the ball and winning the ball on the ground.
In the 2022 season, Jack played a career-high 21 games. He averaged 14.19 disposals per game, which was his best record at that time.
Unfortunately, Jack suffered a serious injury on January 25, 2024. He tore his ACL during training. This meant he missed the entire 2024 AFL season.
Before the 2025 AFL season, Jack was training with the backline squad. This means he might be playing more as a defender. His teammate, Brodie Kemp, took over Jack's old role as a forward.
Jack Silvagni's Personal Life
Jack is currently studying at Deakin University. He is working towards a Bachelor of Property and Real Estate, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce.
