Jackson's Gap is found in the east-central part of Alabama. Part of the town is right next to Lake Martin, a large and popular lake. The town covers an area of about 8.4 square miles (22 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
A Look at Jackson's Gap History
Jackson's Gap got its name from an early settler in the 1800s. This person built a cabin and traded goods with the local Creek people and other travelers. This might have happened around the 1810s or 1820s. Later, a blacksmith shop was set up by a man named Patterson. More settlers from Georgia and South Carolina started to arrive in the 1830s, helping the community grow.
