A Look Back: Jackson's Story
The post office in Jackson first opened a long time ago. This was on August 1, 1896. The town got its name from its very first postmaster. His name was Anton H. Jackson.
Exploring Jackson's Surroundings
Jackson is found in a beautiful part of Montana. It sits along Montana Secondary Highway 278. If you go south from Wisdom, you'll find Jackson. It's also northwest of Dillon.
Right to the east of town, you can find hot springs. These are natural pools of warm water. Warm Springs Creek flows nearby, adding to the natural beauty. To the east, you can see Tweedy Mountain. South of Jackson is Bannack State Park. This park is a cool place to visit.
