Jacob Sahaya Kumar Aruni (born June 4, 1974 – died November 4, 2012) was a famous Indian chef. Many people knew him as "Chef Jacob." He was born in Uthamapalayam, a town in Tamil Nadu, India.
Chef Jacob was well-known for his amazing and real South Indian cuisine (cooking style). He often visited different hotels as a chef and also advised them on food. He loved learning about food history and collecting spices. He worked hard to share the delicious tastes of South Indian cooking with everyone.

Chef Jacob's Amazing Career
Chef Jacob taught cooking at different schools. He even earned a special degree in catering technology. Later, he became the head of the cooking department at Cherraan's Arts Science College. He even became the principal of that college!
Setting a World Record
Chef Jacob set a new Guinness World Record for barbecue cooking! He cooked for an amazing 24 hours and five minutes straight. During this time, he made 485 different dishes. This included 150 dishes that were not vegetarian. He did this in Chennai on March 14-15, 2010.
He was the first person to set this record all by himself. Before him, other chefs had worked together on barbecue records. A special group of judges from Guinness World Records watched him closely.
Honors and Special Cooking
Chef Jacob received an award from the former President of India, Abdul Kalam. This was for his deep studies into old South Indian recipes. He even cooked special Kongunadu food for important guests. This happened at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's official home in New Delhi.
The Indian Federation of Culinary Associations also honored him. They gave him the "Best Young Chef Instructor" award for 2005–2007.
Fun TV Shows and Restaurants
Chef Jacob was famous for his fun and sometimes wild cooking stunts on TV. Once, he cooked a mutton curry while sitting on a coconut tree! Another time, he made a prawn dish on a boat in the middle of a river.
He also had his own restaurant in Chennai called "Jacob's Kitchen." This restaurant focused on traditional South Indian flavors. It was very popular and received great reviews.
He was also a big hit on his TV show, Aaha Enna Rusi. This show aired every Saturday on Sun TV, a Tamil channel. He was truly an expert in authentic South Indian food.
Chef Jacob's Personal Life
Sadly, Jacob Aruni passed away on November 4, 2012. He had a heart attack at a hospital in Chennai. He was 38 years old.
