Jacqueline West, born on December 29, 1979, is an American writer. She writes books for kids and also writes poetry. Her poems have been nominated for a special award called the Pushcart Prize. Her popular fantasy book series, The Books of Elsewhere, even made it onto the New York Times Best Seller list!

Jacqueline West's Early Life
Jacqueline West was born in Red Wing, Minnesota. She grew up in River Falls, Wisconsin. She finished high school there in 1998. Later, she went to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She also studied at other universities. Today, she lives in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Jacqueline West's Writing Career
Jacqueline West is famous for writing The Books of Elsewhere. This exciting series for young readers is published by Dial Books. Dial Books is part of Penguin Group USA.
Besides writing fiction, West also writes poetry. Her poetry book, Cherma, was published in March 2010. This book is about Czech immigrants in western Minnesota. She also worked as an arts and theater reviewer. She wrote for Isthmus, a newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin. She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize for Poetry two times.

In 2008, Jacqueline West won the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg prize for poetry. She was also a finalist for the Minnesota Book Awards several times. These nominations happened in 2011, 2012, 2019, and 2022.
Her book The Shadows was a finalist for many awards. These included the 2011–2012 Texas Bluebonnet Award. It was also a finalist for the 2013 Louisiana Young Readers' Choice Awards. And it was nominated for the 2013 Illinois Bluestem Award.
Jacqueline West won the 2022 Minnesota Book Award. She won it for Middle Grade Literature. This award was for her book Long Lost, which came out in 2021.
