Career Highlights
Working at NASA
From 2010 to 2012, Jade Wang worked as a research scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center. At NASA, she focused on human-computer interaction. This field explores how people and computers work together. She helped make computer systems easier and better for people to use.
Founding Chez JJ
Jade Wang co-founded Chez JJ with Jocelyn Berl. Chez JJ was a group of three "hacker homes." These homes were special places where people who loved technology could live and work together. Two homes were in San Francisco, and one was in Mountain View. Both cities are in Silicon Valley, a famous technology hub.
Chez JJ faced some challenges with city rules about housing. Because of these issues, it closed down in 2015. However, before it closed, Chez JJ provided a home for more than 400 residents.
Starting Sandstorm
Jade Wang also helped start Sandstorm. Sandstorm is an "open source platform for personal servers." This means it's a free computer program that lets people run their own online services. Sandstorm first got money through crowdfunding, where many people donate small amounts. Later, it raised more money from investors.
In March 2017, the Sandstorm team announced they had joined Cloudflare. Cloudflare is a big company that helps make websites faster and safer. Jade Wang joined Cloudflare as the Head of Developer Relations. In this role, she helps other computer programmers understand and use Cloudflare's tools.
