The Jaguar Rescue Center (also known as Spanish: Centro de Rescate Jaguar) is a special place in Costa Rica. It's located near Puerto Viejo de Talamanca in the Limón Province. This center helps animals that are hurt, sick, or have lost their parents. They also care for animals that have been taken from illegal situations.
Once the animals are healthy again, the center helps them return to their natural homes. This often happens in protected forests in Costa Rica. The center was started by two biologists, Sandro Alviani from Italy and Encar García from Spain. They run the center with help from many volunteers from all over the world.
The center cares for many different kinds of animals. These include mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. It also has a special area called a serpentarium. Here, you can see many types of snakes that live in Costa Rica, both venomous and non-venomous.
The Jaguar Rescue Center does not get money from the government. Instead, it relies on help from the community, donations, and money from people who visit. Visitors can take tours during certain times each day.

Helping Wild Animals
The main goal of the Jaguar Rescue Center is to save and care for wild animals. They help animals that have been injured, are sick, or have been orphaned. Sometimes, animals are also brought to the center after being taken from illegal wildlife trade.
The center gives these animals the care they need to get better. This includes medical treatment and a safe place to recover. The team works hard to make sure each animal is strong and healthy enough to live on its own again.
Returning Animals to Nature
After an animal is fully recovered, the center helps it go back into the wild. This process is called rehabilitation and reintroduction. Animals often spend time in a special forest area called La Ceiba. This helps them get used to living in nature again before they are fully released.
The center chooses protected areas in Costa Rica for reintroduction. This ensures the animals have a safe environment to live in once they are back in their natural habitat.
How the Center Works
The Jaguar Rescue Center is run by its founders, Sandro Alviani and Encar García. They are both biologists who love animals. They get a lot of help from volunteers who come from all over the world. These volunteers help with daily tasks like feeding animals, cleaning enclosures, and assisting with animal care.
The center needs money to operate, as it does not receive government funding. It depends on support from people who care about animals. This support comes from donations and from the fees visitors pay for tours. These funds help pay for food, medicine, and the care of all the animals.
