Jerald Ray "Jake" Brown (born March 22, 1948 – died December 18, 1981) was a professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants in 1975. Jake was mostly a pinch hitter, but he also played in the outfield.

Jake Brown was born in Sumrall, Mississippi. He loved baseball and worked hard to become a professional player. His dream was to play in the Major Leagues.
Overcoming a Serious Injury
In early 1974, Jake had a very serious accident. He was working at a sheet-metal factory. His left forearm was badly hurt, almost cut off. Many people thought he would never play baseball again.
But Jake was determined. He worked incredibly hard to recover. He surprised everyone by making it to the Major Leagues in 1975. This showed his amazing courage and spirit.
Playing for the San Francisco Giants
Jake Brown made his big league debut on May 17, 1975. He played for the San Francisco Giants. He was often used as a pinch hitter. This means he would bat in place of another player. He also played in the outfield, catching balls.
