Jamal Willis was born in Oklahoma. He went to Brigham Young University (BYU) on a football scholarship. While he was a student there, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Football Career
After college, Jamal Willis became a professional football player in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the San Francisco 49ers.
Church Service
On January 7, 2018, Jamal Willis became a leader in a special church group called the Genesis Group. This group helps African-American members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Like all the other leaders in this group, Willis is of African descent. He hadn't been part of this group before. However, he had been invited to attend when he was a student at BYU, even before he became a member of the church.
Current Work
In the past, Willis was a football coach for Payson High School. Today, he works as an administrator for the Alpine School District. He helps with schools in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
