Jamapa is a municipality in the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is also the name of the main town within this area. Its name comes from Nahuatl Xam-a-pan, meaning 'in the river of the adobes'. Adobes are special bricks made from earth. The municipality was officially created on February 17, 1870.
