James Jupp Norris Brewer (born in 1777, died in 1839) was an English writer. He wrote about places and history, and also wrote novels. He was known as a topographer, which means someone who describes places in detail. He also wrote many stories called romances. Most of his stories are not well-known today. He also helped write a series of books called Beauties of England and Wales.

About His Life

James Jupp Norris Brewer was born in London on September 11, 1777. His parents were James Brewer and Sarah Sparrow. They got married in London the year before he was born.

He also got married in London. On December 27, 1800, he married Mary Hanscomb. They had several children together. Their first son, Edward Norris Brewer, was born in 1801. They had four more daughters: Mary Ann, Sarah Hanscomb, Emily, and Louisa. These children were born between 1804 and 1812.

Brewer was buried on March 2, 1839, in St Lawrence's Church on the island of Jersey. He had a will, and his assets included a public house. His wife, Mary, passed away later in 1851. The couple had lived in different places, including Pillaton House in Warwickshire, and also on Jersey.

  • The Delineations of Gloucestershire, a book about Gloucestershire.
  • The Beauties of Ireland, published in 1826, in two volumes. This book described places in Ireland.

Brewer also wrote articles for different magazines. These included Universal, Monthly, and Gentleman's magazines.
