Jamestown, also known as Jimtown, is a small community in Elkhart County, Indiana. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of Baugo Township.

History of Jamestown

Jamestown officially became a village in 1835. This happened a few years after about eight families first settled in the area. The community was founded by a man named James Davis, and that's who Jamestown was named after. The settlement was also close to where the Potawatomi people lived.

Geography of Jamestown

Jamestown is located near some important waterways. Baugo Creek flows right through the community. To the north of Jamestown, you can find the Saint Joseph River.

Education in Jamestown

Students in Jamestown attend schools that are part of the Baugo Community Schools district. This school district serves around 1,900 students. The schools include Jimtown High School, Jimtown Junior High School, and Jimtown Elementary School. The mascot for the Jimtown schools is called the Jimmie.
