Jamie McIntosh and IJM Canada
Jamie McIntosh started the Canadian part of IJM in 2002. Before that, he spent a year and a half thinking about how to help people who were being treated badly in other countries. He wanted to find a way to make a real difference.
Helping Others Through Music
In 2006, a musician named Jacob Moon held a special concert in Hamilton, Ontario. This concert was to raise money for IJM Canada. Jacob Moon learned about IJM after Jamie McIntosh suggested a book to him. This book helped Jacob understand the important work IJM was doing.
Speaking Up for People's Rights
Also in 2006, Jamie McIntosh spoke to a group of Canadian lawmakers. This group was called the Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Status of Women. He asked the House of Commons to help women and girls in South Asia who were forced into unfair situations. He wanted the government to support efforts to free them.
