Jan Hojer, born on February 9, 1992, is a professional rock climber from Germany. He is really good at different types of climbing, like sport climbing, bouldering, and competition climbing. Jan is famous for winning a World Cup and two European Championships in bouldering competitions. He has also climbed some of the hardest routes and boulder problems outdoors. For example, in 2010, he climbed Action Directe, which is one of the toughest sport climbing routes in the world!

Jan Hojer's Climbing Journey
Competition Climbing Achievements
Jan Hojer started competing in climbing when he was just 10 years old. He first joined German youth competitions for Lead climbing in 2004. From 2008 to 2010, he took part in the Lead Climbing World Cup.
In 2011, Jan decided to focus on bouldering competitions instead of lead climbing. This was a great choice! The very next year, he placed fifth in the Climbing World Championships. In 2014, he won the overall title for the Bouldering Climbing World Cup. He then finished second in the same competition in 2015.
Jan also won the Climbing European Championships in Bouldering twice, in 2015 and 2017. In 2017, he earned a silver medal at the Bouldering World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
Jan Hojer has won many national championships in Germany. He won the lead climbing title in 2008, 2017, and 2019. For bouldering, he won in 2011, 2014, 2015, and 2016. In 2018, he won the first German National Championship in the combined climbing format. He even won the speed climbing title in 2019, which was the only discipline he hadn't won yet!
In 2019, Jan qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He finished 12th out of 20 climbers at the Olympics.
Amazing Outdoor Climbs
Jan Hojer is not only great at competitions but also at climbing outdoors on real rocks. In May 2010, he successfully climbed Action Directe. This is a super hard sport climbing route.
Between 2013 and 2015, he climbed several very difficult bouldering problems rated 8C (V15). In 2018, he made the third successful climb of Es Pontàs. This is a special type of climb called deep-water soloing, where you climb above water without ropes! It's rated 9a+ (5.15a).
