Jane Danson (born Jane Elizabeth Dawson, 8 November 1978) is an English actress. She is famous for playing Leanne Battersby in the TV show Coronation Street. She was on the show from 1997 to 2000, and then came back in 2004. She has also appeared in other TV shows like Children's Ward and The Bill. In 2011, Jane won an award for Best Dramatic Performance for her role in Coronation Street.

Jane Danson's Acting Career
Jane Danson started acting when she was 12 years old. Her first TV role was in a show called GBH in 1991. She used the name Jane Dawson back then.
Early TV Roles
From 1995 to 1997, Jane played a character named Paula in the children's TV show Children's Ward. This show was on ITV. In 1996, she was also in a British children's comedy show called Out of Tune. It was shown on CBBC. She also appeared in the first episode of the BBC show Hetty Wainthropp Investigates in 1996.
Joining Coronation Street
In 1997, Jane got two big roles. She played Monica Jones in the ITV show The Grand. Then, she joined the very popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She started playing a teenager named Leanne Battersby. Leanne's family, the Battersbys, were known as the "Neighbours From Hell." They quickly made a big impression on the show's fans.
Other TV Shows
After her first time on Coronation Street, Jane played Nurse Samantha Docherty. This was in the drama series Always and Everyone (also known as A&E) from 2001 to 2002. In 2002, she joined the cast of the ITV police drama The Bill. Jane played Gemma Osbourne, who was the first lesbian police officer on that show. She left The Bill in 2003.
Returning to Coronation Street
In 2004, Jane Danson came back to Coronation Street as Leanne. In 2006, she took a break from the show because she was expecting a baby. She returned to filming in January 2007. In 2007, Jane also appeared in the TV show Soapstar Superstar. This show featured actors from soap operas singing.

Jane Danson has appeared on other TV shows as herself. She was on the first celebrity version of Stars in Their Eyes. She and four other actresses from Coronation Street pretended to be the Spice Girls.
In 2019, Jane took part in Dancing on Ice. This is a show where celebrities learn to ice skate with professional partners. Her partner was Sylvain Longchambon. Jane was eliminated in Week 7 of the competition.
Jane Danson's Personal Life
Jane Danson went to Radcliffe High School in Radcliffe. She started dating actor Robert Beck in 1999. Robert was known for being in the TV show Brookside. They met at the British Soap Awards in 1999. Jane and Robert got married in December 2005. Jane has said that she had a crush on Robert since she was 15. She also shared that Robert is her best friend. They have two sons together. Their sons are named Harry, born in July 2006, and Sam, born in February 2009.
