Jane Danson (born Jane Elizabeth Dawson, 8 November 1978) is an English actress. She is famous for playing Leanne Battersby in the TV show Coronation Street. She was on the show from 1997 to 2000, and then returned in 2004. Jane has also appeared in other TV shows. These include Children's Ward (1995–1997) and The Bill (2002–2003). For her role in Coronation Street, Jane won an award in 2011. It was the British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance.

Jane Danson's Acting Career
Jane Danson started her TV career when she was 12 years old. She used the name Jane Dawson back then. Her first role was in the 1991 series GBH. She played a character named Eileen Critchley.
Early TV Roles
From 1995 to 1997, Jane played Paula in the children's TV drama Children's Ward. This show was on ITV. In 1996, she also appeared in Out of Tune. This was a British children's comedy show on CBBC. She also had a part in the first episode of the BBC show Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. That episode aired in January 1996.
Joining Coronation Street
In 1997, Jane got two big roles. She was in the ITV drama series The Grand. She played Monica Jones for seven episodes. Then, she joined the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She played a teenager named Leanne Battersby. Leanne's family, the Battersbys, were known as the "Neighbours From Hell". They quickly made a big impression on the show's viewers.
Jane left Coronation Street in 2000. This was after a difficult story for her character. After leaving, Jane played Nurse Samantha Docherty. This was in the drama series Always and Everyone (also called A&E). She was in this show from 2001 to 2002.
Roles in The Bill and Return to Coronation Street
In 2002, Jane joined the cast of the ITV police drama The Bill. She played Gemma Osbourne. Jane's time as Gemma Osbourne was not very long. She left The Bill in 2003.
In 2004, Jane Danson returned to Coronation Street as Leanne. In early 2006, it was announced that Jane was expecting a baby. She took a break from Coronation Street in July. She started filming again in January 2007. Her first appearance back on screen was two months later. In January 2007, Jane also appeared in the second series of Soapstar Superstar. This was a singing competition for soap opera actors.
Other Appearances
Jane Danson appeared on the first celebrity version of Stars in Their Eyes. She and four other actresses from Coronation Street pretended to be the Spice Girls.
In 2019, Jane took part in the eleventh series of Dancing on Ice. She skated with professional partner Sylvain Longchambon. Jane and her partner were eliminated in Week 7 of the competition.
Jane Danson's Personal Life
Jane Danson went to Radcliffe High School. This school is near Bury in Greater Manchester. She started dating actor Robert Beck in 1999. Robert was known for his role in the TV show Brookside. Jane and Robert got married in December 2005. They first met at the British Soap Awards in 1999. Jane has said she had a crush on Robert since she was 15.
In 2018, Jane spoke about her marriage. She said, "Rob's absolutely my best friend in the world. We've only had about two rows in twenty years." Jane and Robert have two sons together. Their first son, Harry, was born in July 2006. Their second son, Sam, was born in February 2009.
