Jane Florence Benitez de Leon (born November 22, 1998) is a talented Filipino actress, model, and singer. She is also known for her kindness and charity work. Jane started her acting journey after joining Star Magic in 2015. She first appeared in small roles in movies and TV shows. Later, she got bigger parts in popular series like Halik (2018) and Ang Probinsyano (2021). Jane became very famous when she played the superhero Darna in the TV series Mars Ravelo's Darna (2022). She has won an Ima Wa Ima Asian Film Festival Award and has been nominated for other awards, including two PMPC Star Awards for Television.

About Jane's Early Life
Jane Florence Benitez de Leon was born on November 22, 1998, in San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines. Her mother, Maricor Benitez-De Leon, was a housewife, and her father, Ruel Florencio de Leon, was a businessman. Jane is the youngest in her family and has an older brother named Francis.
Facing Challenges as a Family
Even though her family started out doing well, they faced tough times when her father lost his job. This made Jane want to help her family. She started trying out for modeling and acting jobs to earn money. Jane shared that she and her mother would sometimes sneak out at night to go to Metro Manila for auditions. Her father did not want her to become an actress at first. Before she became a model and actress, her mother also encouraged her to join beauty pageants.
School Days and Big Decisions
Jane went to Sampaguita Village Elementary School and San Roque Elementary School for her early education. She then attended Sampaguita Village National High School. In 2016, her father passed away from lung cancer. After this, Jane decided to fully focus on her career in show business to support her family.
Jane's Acting Journey
Starting Out: 2013-2017
Jane began her career by joining pageants and modeling contests. In 2013, she was a semi-finalist in Teen Supermodel Philippines. The next year, she signed with Glamoure Talent Agency Inc. and got her first TV commercial for Quake Overload. A talent manager named Tyrone Escalante discovered her and encouraged her to try acting. She then started taking acting classes with Star Magic.
First Roles and TV Appearances
In 2015, Jane started playing small roles in movies. Her first movie appearance was in Just The Way You Are. Later that year, she had a supporting role in the movie Ex with Benefits. In 2016, Jane became a member of the girl group GirlTrends on the TV show It's Showtime. She also made her TV acting debut in an episode of Wansapanataym called "Tikboyong." She also appeared in drama shows like Maalaala Mo Kaya and Ipaglaban Mo!. In 2017, Jane was cast in the action fantasy series La Luna Sangre. She also appeared in two films: The Debutantes and Jose Bartolome: Guro.
Becoming a Star: 2018-2022
The year 2018 was a big one for Jane. She played the strong-willed sister of Jericho Rosales' character in the TV series Halik. She also had a supporting role in the movie Walwal. In 2019, she had a small role in the film The Heiress.
The Darna Role
In July 2019, Jane was chosen to play the famous superhero Darna! This was a huge role, and she was picked after Liza Soberano had to step down due to an injury. The director, Jerrold Tarog, was very impressed by Jane's audition. However, in August 2020, the Darna movie project was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, a Darna TV series was planned, with Jane still in the lead role.

While waiting for Darna, Jane joined the cast of Ang Probinsyano in 2021. She played agent Natalia Mante. After seven months, she left the show to get ready for her Darna role. She trained very hard and worked out to prepare for the fight scenes. She also practiced her voice for Darna's special yell. In August 2022, Darna finally premiered on TV. Many people praised her performance, saying she was "sincere and genuine."
Recent Projects: 2023-Present
In 2023, Jane starred in the horror film Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme. Even though the movie got mixed reviews, her acting was highly praised. One reviewer said her character had "the most interesting character development" in her part of the film. Jane is also set to work with Janella Salvador again in an upcoming film called How to Be a Good Wife.
Helping Others: Philanthropy
In September 2019, Jane won the Belo Beauty Special Award at the ABS-CBN Ball. Instead of keeping the money from the award, she decided to give it all to Bantay Bata 163. This foundation helps children who are in need or at risk. Jane said she wanted to be an example and help these children achieve their dreams. In the same year, she also attended the Red Charity Gala, which raises money for the Philippine Red Cross. This organization helps people in need and is part of a worldwide movement.

Awards and Recognitions
Since she started acting in the mid-2010s, Jane de Leon has received many awards and nominations in the Philippines. She won the Best Actress award at the Ima Wa Ima Asian Film Festival in Japan for her role in the horror film Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme. She was also nominated twice for a Star Award for Best Single Performance by an Actress for her roles in the drama show Maalaala Mo Kaya.
