Jericho Vibar Rosales (born September 22, 1979) is a famous Filipino actor, singer, songwriter, and film producer. He is well-known for playing the main character in many romantic drama shows. His TV series have been shown in many countries around the world.
Jericho has won many awards for his acting and singing. These include awards from the Guam International Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, Gawad Urian, Metro Manila Film Festival, and Star Awards for Movies. He has also been nominated for several other big awards.
At 17, Jericho started his career after winning a contest called "Mr. Pogi" in 1996. This contest was part of the TV show Eat Bulaga!. The next year, he joined Star Circle, a group of new talents from Star Magic. He became very famous after playing Angelo Buenavista in the romantic drama Pangako Sa 'Yo (2000).
He has also starred in TV series that were nominated for International Emmy Awards, like Kahit Isang Saglit (2008), Dahil May Isang Ikaw (2010), The Legal Wife (2014), and Bridges of Love (2016). Other popular shows he starred in include Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas (2003), Panday (2005), Green Rose (2011), and Halik (2018). These roles helped him become a top actor in TV dramas.
Jericho Rosales is sometimes called the "Asian Drama King" because he is one of the most successful Filipino actors in Asia. Jericho Rosales: A Star's Journey
Early Roles and International Fame (1996-2009)
Jericho Rosales became famous in many countries like Malaysia, China, Ghana, Cambodia, Peru, and Colombia. This was thanks to his popular TV dramas such as Pangako Sa 'Yo (2000–2002), Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas (2003–2004), and Dahil May Isang Ikaw (2009–2010). He starred in all these shows with Kristine Hermosa.
Pangako Sa 'Yo has been shown in over 20 countries since it first came out. In 2013, a TV network in Cambodia even made their own version of the show. In Peru, Jericho is known for his role in Bridges of Love. This was the first Filipino drama to be shown in Peru and other Latin American countries.
Another show, The Legal Wife (2014), which also starred Maja Salvador and Angel Locsin, became very popular in Africa and the Balkan regions. In 2006, Jericho played the Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao in Pacquiao: The Movie. He won two Best Actor awards for this role. He won two more Best Actor awards in 2008 for his part in the movie Baler, where he acted alongside Anne Curtis.
Expanding His Career (2010-2019)
In February 2011, Jericho Rosales starred in the Filipino version of the Korean drama Green Rose. That same year, he appeared in two movies. He acted in his first international film, Subject: I Love You. Then, he starred in the family drama Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, which was shown at the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival. Even though this movie did not earn much money, critics praised his acting.
In March 2012, he starred in the political drama Dahil sa Pag-ibig. The final episode of this show had very high TV ratings. In 2013, Rosales played Jesse Robredo in an episode of the TV show Maalaala Mo Kaya. This episode also had high ratings.
In January 2014, he starred with Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador in the romantic drama The Legal Wife. His acting in this show was highly praised, and it was one of the most-watched TV shows of 2014. The next month, he starred in the movie ABNKKBSNPLAko?!, based on a popular book. Critics liked his natural acting in the film. He also played a supporting role as Dr. Jose Rizal in the historical drama Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo.
Jericho Rosales had two big projects in 2015. He starred with Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino in the romantic drama Bridges of Love. This series was very successful and was even nominated for an International Emmy Award. In December 2015, Walang Forever was shown at the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie was a big hit, earning a lot of money.
In September 2016, Rosales starred with Arci Muñoz and John Estrada in the drama Magpahanggang Wakas. This series also had very high TV ratings. He then played a made-up version of himself in the comedy film Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2: #ForeverIsNotEnough. The next year, he played Diego in the romantic drama Siargao.
In August 2018, Rosales starred in the drama Halik. This series was one of the most-watched TV shows in the Philippines in 2018. In December 2018, The Girl in the Orange Dress was released as part of the 44th Metro Manila Film Festival, where he starred opposite Jessy Mendiola. In 2019, he starred in a short film called Basurero.
Established Actor (2020s)
After not acting for four years, Jericho Rosales returned to the stage in May 2023. He played Tony Javier in Ang Larawan: The Concert. More recently, he performed in the TV series Lavender Fields, which aired in 2024. He also finished filming for the action series Sellblock in April 2024. Jericho is also set to play President Manuel L. Quezon in the movie Quezon, which will be released in 2025.
Helping Others
Jericho Rosales is also known for his charity work. In February 2014, he supported the "Free Mali" campaign. This campaign, led by PETA, aimed to help Mali, an elephant living in the Manila Zoo.
In February 2020, Jericho launched his "Echo Bags," which are eco-friendly tote bags. Some of the money from these bags went to "Waves 4 Water," an organization that helps people get clean water. In April 2020, he sold some of his items online to help "Lockdown Cinema Club." This group supported 1,500 film workers who lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In November 2020, Jericho donated 400 food packs in Marikina to help people affected by Typhoon Ulysses. He did this through the "I Am Hope" organization. In October 2021, Jericho, along with his ex-wife Kim Jones and manager Marinez Elizalde, started a project to build 20 homes in Baggao, Cagayan. These homes were for families who lost their houses during Typhoon Ulysses.
Personal Life
Jericho Rosales was born in Quezon City, but he grew up in Bula, Camarines Sur. There, he learned to speak Rinconada Bikol.
Jericho has a son named Santino Rosales, born in 2000, with his former partner Kai Palomares. Santino is a model and a football player for Maharlika Taguig.
Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa were in a relationship from 2000 to 2004.
He married Kim Jones in a beach wedding in Boracay on May 1, 2014. On January 29, 2024, Jericho and Kim announced that they had separated. Their godfather, Ricco Ocampo, said they had been separated since 2019.
In August 2024, Jericho Rosales announced that he is dating actress Janine Gutierrez.
