Michael Paulo Lingbanan Avelino (born on May 13, 1988) is a talented Filipino actor, singer, model, and film producer. He has starred in many popular TV shows like Walang Hanggan (2012), Bridges of Love (2015), and The General's Daughter (2019). He is also well-known for playing Gregorio del Pilar in the historical movies Heneral Luna (2015) and its sequel, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018). Some of his other notable films include Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay (2013), I'm ..., I Love You (2017), and Fan Girl (2020).

Early Life and Family

Paulo Avelino was born on May 13, 1988, in Baguio, Philippines. His full name is Michael Paulo Lingbanan Avelino. His father is Roberto Puigcerver Avelino, who has Spanish roots from Calbayog City, Western Samar. His mother is Jennilyn Lingbanan from the Cordillera Region.

Paulo comes from a well-known family. His grandfather, Baltazar Avelino, was a former governor of Samar. His great-grandfather, Jose Avelino, was even a former Senate President. Paulo is the second oldest of four children. He has three siblings: Honey, Gabriel, and Angela.

Paulo Avelino's Acting Journey

Starting Out: 2006–2010

Paulo Avelino began his acting career in 2006. He first appeared on the GMA Network reality talent show StarStruck. After the show, he signed a contract with GMA and took on many supporting roles.

In 2007, he was in an episode of Magic Kamison and had small roles in Sine Novela and Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan. He also played Peter in Boys Nxt Door, a youth comedy show that won awards.

In 2008, Paulo appeared in Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, a remake of an old movie. He also had roles in the TV series Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan and Luna Mystika. He made his first movie appearance in Desperadas 2.

By 2009, Paulo became a regular on the variety show SOP Rules. He also got bigger roles in two TV series, Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? and All My Life. He was cast in the movies Patient X and Ang Panday. In 2010, he appeared in Ilumina and took a lead role in Panday Kids. His last show for GMA Network was Alakdana.

New Beginnings: 2011–2012

In mid-2011, Paulo Avelino moved to ABS-CBN, also known as the Kapamilya network. He wanted to try new things and grow as an actor. His first project with ABS-CBN was the movie Aswang. He also appeared in Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

He guest-starred in the ABS-CBN show 100 Days to Heaven. He also appeared in popular shows like Wansapanataym, Maalaala Mo Kaya, and Ikaw Ay Pag-Ibig.

In 2011, Paulo took on a challenging role in the film Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa. This role helped him win his first acting award, Best Actor, at the Gawad Urian Awards. In 2012, he played Nathan Montenegro in the hit TV series Walang Hanggan. He also co-starred in a horror movie segment called "Lost Command" in Shake, Rattle & Roll 14.

Besides acting, Paulo also started making music. He released his first song, "When She Cries". His first album, Paulo Avelino, came out on October 1, 2012. It included six covers of classic OPM songs. He also released a music video for his song "Your Love".

Recent Projects: 2013–Present

In 2013, Paulo continued to star in TV dramas. These included Kahit Konting Pagtingin, two episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya, and the family drama Honesto.

He also appeared in independent films like Debosyon and Sana Dati. He was in the romantic-comedy film Status: It's Complicated. In the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival, Paulo starred in the horror film Pagpag and had a small role in Kimmy Dora: The Quantum of Kiyeme.

In 2014, Paulo was part of the main cast of Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon. He also starred in Give Love on Christmas, a daytime drama series.

In 2015, Paulo starred in the TV soap opera Bridges of Love. He also played Simon Evangelista in On the Wings of Love. He was the lead in two movies: Heneral Luna (a historical film) and Resureksyon (a horror drama).

In 2016, he appeared as a guest villain in the popular action drama FPJ's Ang Probinsyano. He also starred in the romance drama film The Unmarried Wife.

In 2017, Paulo starred with Ritz Azul in the TV series The Promise of Forever.

Personal Life

Paulo Avelino has a son with actress LJ Reyes.

In May 2018, Paulo started a relationship with Jodie Tarasek, a Filipino-Australian model. They later broke up in 2022.

On March 15, 2024, Paulo shared that he dislocated his right shoulder while weightlifting. He explained that his physical appearance often changes to fit the roles he plays, like being "dapper" for his role in Secretary Kim.
