Janet Mbugua – Ndichu (born on January 11, 1984) is a well-known Kenyan TV person, news anchor, and actress. She became famous as a news anchor at KTN early in her career. Later, she worked for Citizen TV for many years, where she was a main anchor for prime time news. After leaving the media world, she took on a new role at the Kenya Red Cross Humanitarian Society. Janet also loves film and arts. She played the main character in the TV show Rush.

Early Life and Education

Janet Mbugua was born on January 11, 1984, in Mombasa, Kenya. She grew up there with her twin brother, Timothy Mbugua.

Janet went to Brookhouse High School. After that, she joined the United States International University (USIU).

Later, she studied Mass Communication at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia. She also earned her MBA in Global Business Management from the Swiss Management Academy in Nairobi, Kenya.

Career Highlights

Janet started her career in 2004 at the age of 19. She worked at 98.4 Capital FM, a radio station.

In 2009, she moved to Johannesburg, South Africa. There, she became a news anchor, reporter, and producer for a show called Africa 360 on e.tv.

More recently, she was a popular news anchor at Citizen TV. She hosted shows like Monday Special and The Big Question.

Acting Role in Rush

In 2014, Janet starred in a TV comedy show called Rush. She played the main character, Pendo Adama. Pendo was the owner and editor-in-chief of Rush Magazine.

In July 2017, Janet started working as a consultant for The Hive. This is a US-based group that works to spread messages about gender equality in Kenya and other African countries.

Janet Mbugua is the founder and director of Media Avenue Limited. This company helps people with things like public speaking, leading events, and being a Master of Ceremonies.

Janet Mbugua is married to Edward Ndichu. They have two sons together. Their first son, Ethan Huru Ndichu, was born in October 2015. Their second son is Mali Ndichu.

In 2019, Janet released her first book called ‘My First Time’. This book shares stories from women, girls, and men about their first experiences with menstruation.
