Acting Career
Early Start
Janet Montgomery first trained to be a professional dancer at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in Bedford, England. However, she decided to become an actress instead. At first, it was hard for her to find acting jobs because she had not gone to a drama school. She got her first big chance after she produced a play with her friend, actor Gethin Anthony.
In 2008, Montgomery appeared in an episode of the British teen show Skins. That same year, she was also in the TV movie Dis/Connected and a short film.
Roles in Movies and TV
In 2009, Montgomery acted in two horror movies that were released directly on video: The Hills Run Red and Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead. She also had a leading role in the Lifetime movie Accused at 17.
Her first movie to be shown in theaters was the 2010 horror film Dead Cert. That same year, she had a supporting role as Madeline in the famous movie Black Swan. The film was nominated for several Academy Awards.
Also in 2010, she was cast in the comedy movie Our Idiot Brother with actor Paul Rudd. Producers saw her audition and liked it so much that they worked around her schedule for the TV show Entourage to film her scenes. She also made a guest appearance on the comedy show The League.

From 2010 to 2011, Montgomery played Ames in the second season of the action series Human Target. In 2011, she appeared in the popular fantasy show Merlin as Princess Mithian. She returned to the show for another episode in 2012.
In 2012, Montgomery had the main role in the CBS television series Made in Jersey. The show was about a lawyer from New Jersey. Even though the show was cancelled after only a few episodes, it was a major step in her career.
In 2013, she appeared in two BBC shows: the miniseries Dancing on the Edge and the drama Spies of Warsaw.
Success with Salem and New Amsterdam
From 2014 to 2017, Montgomery starred as Mary Sibley in the historical fantasy series Salem. Her character was a powerful witch in the town of Salem.
