Janet Ruth Montgomery (born on October 29, 1985) is an English actress who stars in movies and TV shows. She became well-known for her role as Ames in the TV series Human Target (2010–2011). She also appeared in the 2009 movie The Hills Run Red.
Janet played the main character in the TV drama Made in Jersey (2012). From 2014 to 2017, she was the lead character, Mary Sibley, in the series Salem. More recently, from 2018 to 2023, Montgomery played Dr. Lauren Bloom in the medical drama TV series New Amsterdam.

Janet Montgomery's Acting Career
Janet Montgomery trained to be a dancer at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts. However, she decided to become an actress instead. At first, it was hard for her to find an agent because she hadn't gone to a special drama school. She got her big break after she helped produce a play with her friend Gethin Anthony.
Early Roles and Breakthroughs
In 2008, Janet appeared in an episode of the teen drama Skins. She also acted in a TV movie called Dis/Connected and a short film named Flushed.
The next year, Janet was in two horror movies filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria. These included The Hills Run Red and Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead. She also played a teenage character named Fallyn Werner in the Lifetime movie Accused at 17.
In 2010, Janet appeared in her first movie shown in theaters, playing Giselle in the horror film Dead Cert. She also had a supporting role as Madeline in the famous psychological thriller Black Swan. In this movie, she played a "Little Swan" alongside Natalie Portman, who won an Oscar for her role.
Television and Film Success
In December 2011, Janet Montgomery played Princess Mithian, a character who was a love interest for King Arthur, in the TV series Merlin. She appeared in two episodes of the show.
In 2012, Janet took on the main role in the CBS TV series Made in Jersey. She also worked with David Tennant in the BBC Four series Spies of Warsaw.
From 2014 to 2017, Montgomery played the main character, Mary Sibley, a powerful witch, in the gothic horror series Salem on WGN America. In October 2016, she started a recurring role in the NBC drama This Is Us.
In February 2018, Janet was cast in a main role in the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam. She played Dr. Lauren Bloom, who is the head doctor in the emergency room. In 2019, she also played Marguerite in the American drama thriller film Nighthawks.
Janet Montgomery's Personal Life
Janet Montgomery was born in Bournemouth, England. Her uncle, Mike "Monty" Montgomery, was a bass player in a band called Zoot Money's Big Roll Band. She also has a younger brother named Jason, who is an actor too.
In November 2018, it was announced that Janet was going to have her first child with her boyfriend, Joe Fox. Their daughter was born in 2018. Janet and Joe got married in Jamaica on November 29, 2019.
