Jaramillo Quemado is a tiny village in Spain. It is located in the province of Burgos, which is part of the Castile and León region. Imagine a place where almost everyone knows each other!

As of 2018, only 8 people lived in Jaramillo Quemado. This makes it one of the smallest villages in all of Spain. It is a very quiet and peaceful place.

A Look at Jaramillo Quemado's Past

Early History and Special Rights

Jaramillo Quemado has a long history. In the year 1128, the village received a special document called a fuero. This fuero was like a set of rules or special rights given to the villagers. It was granted by a powerful person named Count Pedro González de Lara and his wife, Countess Eva.

The fuero gave the people of Jaramillo Quemado certain freedoms and privileges. In return, the village had to pay the count a small amount of money each year. This payment was five silver solidi, which were old coins.

The Lost Document

Sadly, the original fuero document from 1128 has been lost over time. However, we know about it because a copy was made. A historian named Prudencio de Sandoval copied the important details in the 1600s. Thanks to his work, we still know about the special rights Jaramillo Quemado received almost 900 years ago.
