Jarrett J. Krosoczka (/krʌˈzɒskʌ/ krə-ZOSS-kə) was born on December 22, 1977, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is a talented author and illustrator. Krosoczka is famous for creating many graphic novels and picture books. His most well-known works include the popular Lunch Lady series.

About Jarrett J. Krosoczka
Jarrett J. Krosoczka grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was raised by his loving grandparents. The "J" in his professional name honors his late grandfather. Jarrett also created special scholarships in his grandparents' names. These are the Joseph and Shirley Krosoczka Memorial Youth Scholarships. They help young students who want to study art at the Worcester Art Museum.
Jarrett's Education and Early Career
Jarrett J. Krosoczka studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. He graduated from this well-known art school. Just six months after finishing college, he got his first book contract. He had been sending his work to publishers for two years before that! His very first book was Good Night, Monkey Boy. It was published on June 12, 2001, by Random House.
Jarrett also shared his knowledge with others. He taught art at Montserrat College of Art for four years. In 2003, Print magazine recognized his talent. They named him one of the "20 Top New Visual Artists Under 30." This was a big honor for a young artist.
Jarrett's Books and Awards
Jarrett J. Krosoczka has written and illustrated many books. His Lunch Lady series is very popular. These graphic novels are about a lunch lady who is secretly a superhero. The series has even been considered for movies! Universal Studios once planned a movie based on Lunch Lady. The famous actress Amy Poehler was set to play the main role. Other companies like DreamWorks Animation and MGM have also shown interest in his stories.
One of his books, Hey, Kiddo, received many awards. It was a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 2018. In 2019, it won the Harvey Award for Book of the Year. This book is a graphic memoir. It tells a true story about his childhood. His book Sunshine also won the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award for Non-Fiction.
Jarrett's Animated Adaptations
Some of Jarrett's books have been turned into animations. Weston Woods created an animated version of his book Peanut Butter and Jellyfish. This brings his characters to life in a new way.
