Jarvis, Missouri facts for kids
Jarvis is a small, unincorporated community located in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Jarvis is situated about 1.5 miles northwest of Mapaville and about 2.5 miles southeast of Goldman.
History of Jarvis
The community of Jarvis got its name from an early settler named Thornton Jarvis. A post office was opened in Jarvis in 1888. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for about 12 years, closing down in 1900.
