Jasmin Savoy Brown was born in Alameda, California. Her father is African-American, and her mother is white. She also has Irish family roots. Jasmin grew up in Springfield, Oregon.
When she was just four years old, Jasmin had her first acting role. It was in a church musical. This experience made her fall in love with performing. As she grew up, she took part in many musicals. She was also a member of different music groups and choirs. Some of these included the University of Oregon and the Oregon Children's Choir. After finishing high school, Jasmin moved to Portland, Oregon. She wanted to become a professional actress.
