How it Started
The idea for Jasmine Directory began in 2006. It was created by Pecsi Andras and Robert Gombos. They were students at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The website officially launched to the public in 2009.
Later, in 2013 and 2014, a well-known editor named Ken Anderson reviewed web directories. He listed Jasmine Directory as one of his "Top Ten Web Directories." Today, Jasmine Directory is based in Valley Cottage, New York.
How Websites Get Listed
Jasmine Directory's editors add websites to their list by hand. This means real people look at each website. Website owners can also suggest their own websites to be reviewed. Sometimes, they pay a small fee for this review.
However, paying a fee does not guarantee that a website will be added. The editors still decide if the website follows their rules. They only include websites that meet their quality standards.
Because editors carefully review every website, search engines see these listings as valuable. Website owners often find it helpful to have their sites listed here.
