Jason "Jay" Santos is a well-known chef and restaurant owner from Boston. He is famous for his exciting restaurants and for appearing on popular TV shows. You might know him from Hell's Kitchen or Bar Rescue.
Jay was a runner-up on Hell's Kitchen Season 7. Later, he returned to the show as a sous-chef for the famous chef Gordon Ramsay. He helped Gordon Ramsay in seasons 19, 20, 21, and 22 of Hell's Kitchen. He has also appeared on many seasons of Bar Rescue.
His restaurants, especially Buttermilk & Bourbon, are very popular. They are known for serving delicious food inspired by the flavors of New Orleans.
Chef Jason Santos's Career
Jason Santos is the owner and executive chef of several restaurants in Boston. Some of his well-known places include Abby Lane, Citrus & Salt, and Buttermilk & Bourbon. He also opened B&B Fish, though it is now closed. In 2021, he opened another Buttermilk & Bourbon location in Watertown, Massachusetts.
Early in his career, Jason worked at a restaurant called Tremont 647 for six years. After that, he became the Executive Chef at Gargoyles on the Square in 2005. People said his cooking was so creative that it made the restaurant a must-visit spot. His food has even been described as a fun mix of classic cooking and wild imagination!
Besides cooking in restaurants, Jason has also taught cooking classes. He has shared his skills at Boston University and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.

Jason Santos has written two cookbooks to share his recipes with everyone.
- Buttermilk & Bourbon: New Orleans Recipes with a Modern Flair was published in March 2019. This book shares recipes inspired by New Orleans cuisine.
- Simple Fancy: A Chef's Big-Flavor Recipes for Easy Weeknight Cooking came out in December 2022. This cookbook is designed to help home cooks make delicious, fancy-tasting meals easily during the week.
Jason Santos's Personal Life
Jason Santos is married to Thuy Le. They have a daughter who was born in August 2022.
When he first appeared on Hell's Kitchen in Season 7, Jason lived in Medford, Massachusetts. At that time, he was working as an executive chef at Gargoyles on the Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. He went back to working at Gargoyles after his season of Hell's Kitchen ended.
Jason Santos studied and graduated from Newbury College. In 2021, it was reported that Jason and his wife live in Woburn, Massachusetts.
