Jaudon, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Jaudon is a small place in Cass County, Missouri, which is in the western part of the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the county government.

This community is also part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area, a big region that includes Kansas City and many surrounding towns and communities.

Jaudon is located very close to the border between Missouri and Kansas, just one mile away! You can find it along Missouri Route D, a road that runs west of the Kansas City Southern Railway line. The city of Belton is about 4.5 miles (or 7.2 kilometers) northeast of Jaudon.

Jaudon's Past

Jaudon has a short but interesting history. It was officially recognized as a community when a post office opened there in 1892. A post office is where people send and receive mail, and it often helps a community grow.

However, the post office didn't stay open for very long. It closed its doors in 1914, about 22 years after it first started.

The community was named after a person named James A. Jaudon. He was the original owner of the land where the community was formed.
