Belton is a city located in the northwest part of Cass County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 23,953 people lived there. It is also part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area, which is a big group of cities and towns around Kansas City.

Belton's Beginnings
Belton was first planned out in 1871. It is thought that the city was named after a surveyor named Captain Marcus Lindsey Belt. A post office opened in Belton in 1872, helping the new community grow.
Where is Belton Located?
Belton is in the northwest part of Cass County. It is only four miles from the border between Missouri and Kansas. The city is located on Missouri Route 58. This road is west of I-49 and U.S. Route 71.
Other nearby towns include:
- Raymore, which is four miles to the east.
- Peculiar, about seven miles southeast along Route 71.
- Grandview, five miles north in Jackson County.
