Javier Espinosa's Football Journey
Javier Espinosa was born in Talavera de la Reina, a town in Spain. He started playing football at a young age and joined FC Barcelona's famous youth academy, La Masia, when he was 13 years old. This is where many great football players learn their skills.
Starting at Barcelona B
Espinosa made his first senior team appearance for Barcelona B on May 1, 2010. He was still a junior player at the time. He played in the second half of a game where his team won 2–1.
The next year, in 2011, he scored his first goal for Barcelona B. This happened in a thrilling 6–4 away victory against CD Numancia. He became a regular player for the B team under their new coach.
During the 2012–13 season, Espinosa scored five goals in 27 games. The team played in the second division of Spanish football. He continued to play regularly the following season, scoring his best number of goals, seven, as Barça B finished third in the league.
Moving to Villarreal
On July 11, 2014, Espinosa signed a three-year contract with Villarreal CF. This was a big step, as Villarreal plays in La Liga, Spain's top football league. He made his debut in La Liga on August 24, coming on as a substitute in a 2–0 win against Levante UD.
Espinosa scored his first goal in La Liga on September 21, 2014. It was the first goal for his team in a 4–2 home win against Rayo Vallecano. In January 2015, he was loaned to another top-flight team, UD Almería, for the rest of the season.
Later, on August 28, 2015, Espinosa joined Elche CF on a loan deal for the season. Elche was in the second division at that time.
Playing for Levante
On July 19, 2016, Espinosa signed a two-year contract with Levante UD. Levante had recently been relegated to the second division. He helped the team get promoted back to La Liga in his first season.
After helping Levante achieve promotion, he extended his contract until 2019. He was then immediately loaned to Granada CF for one year. Espinosa ended his contract with Levante on August 30, 2018.
Playing Abroad with Twente
