Javier Rogelio Jáuregui Delgadillo (born September 5, 1973 – died December 11, 2013) was a professional boxer from Mexico. People often called him El Chatito, which means "The Snub-nosed" in Spanish. He was known for competing in the lightweight division, which is for boxers weighing around 135 pounds.
Becoming a Professional Boxer
Javier Jáuregui was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He started his professional boxing career very young, in 1988, when he was just 14 years old.
After many years of hard work, in 2003, he achieved a big goal. He won the IBF Lightweight Title. This happened when he defeated Leavander Johnson by TKO (Technical Knockout). A TKO means the fight was stopped because one boxer couldn't safely continue.
However, he lost his title in his very next fight in 2004 to Julio Díaz. Even though he lost the title, Javier Jáuregui had some impressive wins during his career. He even beat Jose Luis Castillo, who later became a two-time lightweight world champion, twice by TKO!
Later Life and Passing
Javier Jáuregui sadly passed away on December 11, 2013. He became very ill and died after a short period.
