Jaylen Hill's Football Journey
Starting His Professional Career
Jaylen Hill began his professional football journey in 2017. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens on May 16, 2017. He joined them as an "undrafted free agent." This means that after college, he was not chosen by any team in the main player draft. However, teams can still sign players who were not drafted.
Jaylen worked hard and earned a spot on the Ravens' main team roster. This was a big achievement for an undrafted rookie. He played in six games during his first year. He mostly played on "special teams." Special teams are groups of players who are on the field during kickoffs, punts, and field goals.
Dealing with Injuries
Unfortunately, Jaylen got a serious injury in Week 16 of the 2017 season. He tore his ACL and MCL. These are important ligaments in the knee. Because of this injury, he was placed on "injured reserve" on December 26, 2017. When a player is on injured reserve, they cannot play for the rest of the season. This gives them time to heal.
In 2018, Jaylen was still recovering from his knee surgery. On August 31, 2018, he was placed on the "physically unable to perform" (PUP) list. This list is for players who are not yet ready to play at the start of the season due to an injury.
Leaving the Ravens
After his time with the Baltimore Ravens, Jaylen Hill was released by the team. This happened on March 19, 2019.
