Jean-Luc Vayssière, born in 1956, is a French professor. He is an expert in genetics and cell biology. From April 2012 to 2016, he was the president of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University.

About Jean-Luc Vayssière
His Early Education
Jean-Luc Vayssière studied biochemistry at Paris Diderot University. He earned his doctorate there. His advanced degree focused on the molecular biology of eukaryotic organisms. In 2001, he gained a special qualification. This allowed him to lead research on apoptosis, which is how cells naturally die. He received this qualification at Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University.
His Career in Academia
In 1990, Jean-Luc Vayssière began his career as an assistant at the Collège de France. By 1994, he became a lecturer at the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University. In 2001, he was chosen to lead training at the École pratique des hautes études. Then, in 2006, he became a teacher at the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University.
Besides teaching, he also worked as a researcher. He was part of the Laboratory of Genetics and Cell Biology. There, he led a team that studied "stress and cell death".
His Role in University Leadership
Jean-Luc Vayssière was a member of the Conseil national des universités (National Council of Universities) from 2003 to 2007. This council helps guide universities in France. He also served as the chief of staff at UVSQ from 2004 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012, he was the Vice Chairman of the University's Board of Directors.
President of the University
In April 2012, Jean-Luc Vayssière became the president of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University. He took over from Sylvie Faucheux. He served in this important role until May 2016. After his term, Didier Guillemot became the new president.
