Early Life and Football Beginnings

Jed Anderson was born in Katherine, Northern Territory. He is from an Indigenous Australian family, part of the Warramungu people. When he was 12, his family moved to Darwin.

Jed's grandfather, Jim Anderson, was also a famous football player. He is even in the Northern Territory Team of the Century! Jed started playing junior football for the Darwin Buffaloes. He also won a championship in 2011 with the NT Thunder team.

Jed's AFL Journey

Starting with Greater Western Sydney

In 2010, Jed was chosen for a special program with the Greater Western Sydney team. He was only 16 years old when he moved to Sydney to play for their junior team. He also went to school there. However, Jed missed his home and family. He returned to Darwin during the year. Even so, he was picked for the 2011 All-Australian under-18 team. This showed he was a very talented young player.

Playing for Hawthorn (2013–2015)

Jed joined the Hawthorn Football Club in 2013. He made his first AFL appearance in Round 1 against Geelong. In Round 3, he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award. This award goes to young players who show great potential. He even kicked his first goal in that game!

Jed also played for Hawthorn's reserve team, the Box Hill Hawks. He helped them win a championship in 2013. In 2014, Jed had some bad luck with injuries. He got sick with pneumonia and later hurt his shoulder. These injuries kept him from playing much that season. By the end of 2015, Jed wanted to play more senior games. He asked to move to another club for more opportunities.

Time with North Melbourne (2016–2022)

In October 2015, Jed moved to the North Melbourne Football Club. He was traded in a deal that involved several player picks. In 2016, he injured his hamstring early in the season. However, he came back to play the last nine games.

Jed continued to face injuries during his time at North Melbourne. But as he got older, he managed to play many games in a row. In 2018, he played 21 games, which was a great achievement. In 2020, Jed finished third in North Melbourne's Best and Fairest award, called the Syd Barker Medal. This award goes to the team's best player for the season. After playing 89 games over seven seasons, Jed was told in October 2022 that North Melbourne would not offer him a new contract.

Brief Stint with Gold Coast (2023)

In December 2022, Jed joined the Gold Coast Suns team. He was signed during a special period for new players. He did not play any games for the Gold Coast Suns in 2023.
