Jed Anderson was born on February 2, 1994. He is a talented Australian rules football player. Jed has played for several teams in the top-level Australian Football League (AFL), including the Hawthorn Hawks, North Melbourne Kangaroos, and Gold Coast Suns. He now plays for the Southern Districts Football Club in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL).

Jed's Early Life and Football Beginnings

Jed Anderson was born in Katherine, Northern Territory. His family has Indigenous Australian roots from the Warramungu people. When he was 12, Jed moved to Darwin.

Football runs in his family! His grandfather, Jim Anderson, is a famous player. He is even in the Northern Territory Team of the Century. Jed started playing junior football for the Darwin Buffaloes. He also helped the NT Thunder win a championship in 2011.

Jed's AFL Journey

Starting with Greater Western Sydney

In 2010, Jed was chosen for a special program. It was with the Greater Western Sydney team. At just 16, he moved to Sydney. He played for their junior team, the TAC Cup team. He also went to school there. But Jed missed his home and family. He returned home during the year. Even so, he was picked for the All-Australian under-18 team in 2011. This showed he was a top young player.

Playing for the Hawthorn Hawks

Jed joined the Hawthorn Hawks in 2013. He made his first AFL appearance in Round 1. This was against the Geelong Cats. In Round 3, he played a great game. He even kicked his first goal! This earned him a nomination for the AFL Rising Star award.

After an injury, Jed played for Hawthorn's reserve team. This team was the Box Hill Hawks. He played so well that he returned to the main team. He kicked important goals in big games. He also helped the Box Hill Hawks win a championship in 2013.

The start of 2014 was tough for Jed. He got sick with pneumonia. This happened while he was on holiday in Darwin. He had to miss some pre-season training. Later that year, he hurt his shoulder. This injury kept him out for the rest of the season.

By 2015, Jed wanted more chances to play. He asked to move to another club. He only played four games that season.

Time with North Melbourne Kangaroos

In October 2015, Jed moved to the North Melbourne Kangaroos. He injured his hamstring early in 2016. But he came back to play nine games that year.

Jed faced more injuries in his career. But as he got older, he played more games. In 2018, he played 21 games. This was a great achievement. In 2020, Jed had an amazing season. He finished third in North Melbourne's top award, the Syd Barker Medal. After playing 89 games for North Melbourne, Jed left the club in 2022.

Joining the Gold Coast Suns

In December 2022, Jed signed with the Gold Coast Suns. He joined them for the 2023 season.
